MARY CABOT

One morning I woke up, I looked up and had been blinded by the beam of sunlight streaming through my window. The most favorite place of mine in whole world. I scampered myself out of bed and stared out deliberately. The sun was the king of all lights out there. There's only one thing that reminds me of the "sun" and "king". My father. He's the king and the light of the household. He's the one who made sure that everyone was safe and happy.
"You're the king, papa" I said to him 7 yrs ago. "And you're my little princess" he would replied. I missed those times. When we would seat by the window and read me stories of a great fearless prince saving a princess in distress from a fire breathing dragon. I chuckled to myself remembering his reactions to make the story came alive for me, until my mother would summoned us for tea. " Do you think my prince will come someday?" I asked him, "of course, he will come...someday." He beamed at me with a wide grin on his face.
Out of the blue, everything seemed to change. When one day my father fell ill and unable to move an inch from his bed. My mother was in great distress but unfortunately, no prince will save her this time round. My mother called for a doctor. "What is his illness, doctor?" My mother asked anxiously. The both of them had a conversation by the corner of the room. I could see my mother shaking her head vigorously and moaned "no...no..." She cried uncontrollably as the doctor left us distraught by our plight. " What's wrong with papa, mama?" My mother scooped me up and cradled me to sleep, singing to me a mother's lullaby. In an instant I fell asleep with her angelic voice. "Sleep, O Babe, for the red bee hums,The silent twilights fall.
Eeval from the Grey Rock comes
To wrap the world in thrall..."
The very next day, the house was in dead silence. I trudged myself off my bed and went out to look for my mother. I searched every nook and cranny of the house but she was no where to be seen. It was uncanny that even my father was gone! Where could they be? I bolted out of the house and inspect the garden. I was relieved to see my parents were seating in the bench gazing into the splendid sunrise over the hills beyond. I scampered my way towards them and into my mothers lap. Both of them focused on me upon my arrival and smiled, deep inside I felt like its going to be the very last time that i am going to see them smile so whole heartedly.
"Do you wanna hear another story?" asked My father. I nodded approvingly. "Once upon a time, there was a little princess named, Sarah...." He continued with hilarious actions. " And they lived happily ever after.THE END","but the king died. How can it be happily ever after?" I argued. He hesitated " You know sometimes, people come and go. When their time is up. They will go and people surrounds him must accept the fact that....It's ...time." He elaborated and smiled weakly. I stared at his watery blue eyes, digesting the explanations. "It's time for me." My father blurted out and without notification. I heard a sobbed from my mother, "what's wrong mama? why are you crying?" I asked naively. She shook her head and hugged me and my father. I could feel the sniffle from my mother and the ice cold skin of my father. It stings to my skin. I gazed up to my father and his eyes were closed. "He's sleeping" I uttered, "yes...yes he is" My mother said without any glances. She just cried even louder.
My mother's voice jerked me up to reality. "Mary! Are you already awake? You're going to be late for school. The school bus will arrive within 30 min. Hurry up!" my mother bellowed from downstairs. " I'm up!" I replied back. I rummaged through my drawer to find something to wear and stormed to the bathroom. Within 25 minutes I strides down the stares 2 at a time and grabbed my breakfast. I pecked my mother on the cheek and rushed towards the school bus. Upon seeing Louie I wondered, "when will my prince will come?"
